What we collect when you contact us, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. Who we are
Bristol Hydralifts supplies, fits, services and examines vehicle tail lifts, passenger lifts and roller shutter doors from Unit 3, Bonville Business Centre, Brislington, Bristol, BS4 5QQ.
For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described here. If you have a question about this policy, ring 0117 9770810 or email info@hydralifts.co.uk.
2. What we collect
We only collect what you give us. If you send an enquiry through this website, that is:
- your name and email address, which the form requires;
- your telephone number, company name and postcode, if you choose to give them;
- details of the vehicle and the work — registration or trailer number, vehicle type, lift make, what you need doing and anything you write in the message box.
If you ring us or email us directly, we hold whatever you tell us in that conversation. If you become a customer we also hold the records of the work carried out on your vehicles.
We do not ask for payment card details through this website, and we do not collect special category data.
3. Why we hold it, and our lawful basis
We use your enquiry to answer it: to work out what the vehicle needs, to quote, to arrange a visit or a workshop slot, and to carry out the work.
Where you have asked us for a price or a booking, our lawful basis is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and afterwards to perform that contract. Where we keep records of examinations and tests we carry out, our basis is compliance with a legal obligation and our legitimate interest in being able to evidence the work we have done.
We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell, rent or trade your information to anybody.
4. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become work are kept for 24 months and then deleted, so that we can pick up a conversation you started last season without holding your details indefinitely.
Records relating to work we have carried out — servicing, repairs, thorough examinations and weight test certificates — are kept for at least six years, because they are the evidence that the work was done and to what standard.
5. Who else is involved
We do not share your information with anyone who does not need it to help us do the work. The parties involved are:
- Our website and email providers, who host this site and carry the enquiry to us. They process the information on our instructions and for no other purpose.
- Manufacturers and parts suppliers, where ordering a part for your lift requires us to give them the make and serial number. That is equipment information, not personal information, unless the vehicle is registered to you personally.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to the Health and Safety Executive in connection with a reportable incident.
6. Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies. There is nothing to accept or decline, and no tracking of you across other websites.
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data and does not follow visitors between sites; the figures we see are aggregate counts, and we cannot identify you from them.
Two other services load as part of the page. Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. On our contact page only, OpenStreetMap supplies the map — it is embedded without cookies, but as with any embedded content your browser makes a request to them in order to fetch it. If you would rather not make that request, the address and directions are written out on the page as text.
7. Where your information is held
The website and its database are hosted on servers within the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes information outside the UK, that transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
- restrict or object to what we are doing with it;
- provide it in a portable form.
Ask by ringing 0117 9770810 or emailing info@hydralifts.co.uk. There is no charge, and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you raised it with us first.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top of it.
